The Garden show is coming!

The long awaited garden show at Monticello in Portland opens this Friday at 8:00 am!  Here are a few sneak peek pics of what we have in our display. It is certainly not finished but I have plenty of time -Ha!
The most incredible thing we have is the European cement bench with lion legs and pillow tuffting on the back. It is quite the one of a kind thing that people come to the show looking for. It is certainly the heaviest thing at the show! I will post pictures when the display is done. So get down to see what all the fuss is about. I know Monticello will be posting some sneak peeks too so visit their blog to see more. Tired but happy. Instead of having lunch like most of the other dealers, Bob and I went and bought a mid-size John Deere tractor with a mower to cut all our pastures. Sweet little machine to make this place sparkle! Get organized!

Well actually get organized and look good while doing it! Our display this month is about brass and enamel words and letters/numbers to organize your pantry or make a big old perpetual chalkboard for yourself. And while you are getting organized wear some Repent clothes that set you apart and show your fun style. The brass numbers/words/letters are made locally and help you label your pantry or hang on a necklace for your best friend (or yourself)! Sneak Peek

Guess I have taken a break from blogging! Not intended really but life just happens sometimes. The weather here in Washington has been wonderful and spring is ahead of schedule. I have been having fun discovering what is coming up in my new yard. Someone before me liked plants so I am off to a good start! Not enough hours in the day!

So here are some pics of my new display. Repent Clothes! Vintage lace and recycled shirts and slips to layer for the casual lifestyle with a little extra! It all started a few years ago when I bought a cotton shirt I just loved - the fabric, the style and the pockets! The price was a little high but I figured quality was a good purchase. Nope - the first time I washed it  shrunk up! So using my sewing skills I added length to it with some vintage lace. Every time I wore it women would ask me where I had purchased it. So now I have finally made some for sale. 

The other part of the display are some locally made brass and enamel tags. From letters (wear your initial) to numbers (put the number on her birthday package as the tag) to words ( tie them on jars or make key rings). I just love them and have some plans for using them in my new home. I have also almost finished a GIANT chalkboard perpetual calendar using the number tags. I will post pics when it is done.

So I will make a better effort to post as I change displays. Or you could gather up the "girls" and do a shopping day at Monticello in Portland. I could provide lunch! So enjoy spring here cause it sure beats what the east coast is getting... Mary

The display from nowhere!

Now that I live in Washington, right across the beautiful Columbia River one would think selling antiques in Portland, OR at Monticello Marketplace was going to be so easy. Remember - I used to live in Cottage Grove, OR and had to drive two and a half hours to get to Portland. But our new home has no place for my antiques. Yes, we are working on getting a barn built but it takes months. So this new display literally came from nowhere. I had no place to set it up - I am a two and a half hour drive from my current warehouse - so it was a difficult one. It happened and has sold well already. The primitive hutch and chippy table sold the first day. I never even got pictures! So I was back in today with more furntiure to fill in the gaps. I am always amazed at how many wonderful customers come up to me to say how much they love our booth. It is heartwarming. So from nowhere it came but I got it done. So on a cold, rainy day go do some shopping at Monticello on Stark in Portland. Maybe I will see you there!  I look forward to 2015 (and a barn) and the promise of new things to come.
